17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: 18 Yet I will rejoicein the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3: 17, 18 (KJV)
When I was a little girl, I used to sing a song that went like this:
I’m in-right, outright, up-right, downright happy all the time.
We had motions that went to that little verse and we pointed to ourselves (in-right), outward (outright), upward (upright) and downward (downright) and then clapped in time to “happy all the time.” Each time we sang the verse again, we’d sing it faster and faster until the words were undiscernible and the motions unattainable.
Many times as an adult, that song has come back to my mind when I was sad or lonely. Thinking of it brings a smile to my face and causes me to remember a simpler time.
I encourage you to find a happy song, a joyful memory and glad time that will help you to rejoice.
The Bible says in Phillippians 4:4 -“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
I love how He says it twice, for emphasis. So, I’ll do the same:
