FEBRUARY 12, 2020 – THE FIELDS

17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:  18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3: 17, 18 (KJV)

A field is a natural and valuable resource. Think about what you could do if you owned a field. You could construct, equip and mark it for a sport, such as a baseball, football or soccer field. You could turn it into an area dedicated to military exercises or maneuvers. How about a running track where field events are conducted? And of course, you could plant.

Your life is like an open field. It is a natural and valuable resource. And it doesn’t matter your age, your challenges, your station in life. Today, think of your life as a field and decide what you will do with that wide expanse. Keep in mind that you only have this moment, right now. You may plant a tree under which you will never enjoy its shade, but still choose to plant. You may start to construct a field in which you will never play, but still choose to construct. Do it today, because today is all you have.
