FEBRUARY 10, 2020 – FAILURE

17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:  18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3: 17, 18 (KJV)

How many of you still make the traditional New Years’ Resolutions? Typically for those who do make those promises, it is difficult to keep them this far into the new year.

I’m reminded of a time when I found myself in Week Twelve of yet another weight loss program. I didn’t start in January, but rather in the spring. I  eventually had to look myself square in the face and admit that I while hadn’t gained what I’d lost, I’d certainly lost what I’d gained.  My resolve had faded. I no longer had the desire to do what I had signed up to do. I was trying to impress others and was only pretending to want to do this. I felt like a fraudulent failure.

During my worship time, I found this passage: “though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lordupholds him with His hand. Psalm 37:24 (NIV) I knew that even when I stumbled, God was still holding me.

Failures may come, but YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE. You are upheld by the Creator’s hand. That thought should give you joy.
